A future wearable phone that shrinks the smartphone into a lightweight ring — and projects its interface onto your palm only when you need it.
01 — Project Overview
This project explores how phones might become lighter, more flexible and more integrated with the body. Instead of designing another screen-based slab, I proposed a ring-shaped device that disappears onto a finger in daily life — and projects the phone interface onto the palm only when it's actually needed.
02 — Design Challenge
Smartphones keep growing larger and more screen-dependent. They're powerful, but they demand to be held, carried and constantly looked at — a fixed rectangle competing for attention. This project questions whether the future phone has to stay a handheld object at all, or whether it could become a light, wearable extension of the body that only surfaces an interface on demand.
03 — Concept Development
The traditional phone is a handheld slab you must carry, hold and watch.
The concept folds that slab into a metal ring — present on the body, out of the way.
The screen leaves the device entirely — projected into the palm only on demand.
04 — Interaction Flow
Worn like a ring through the day. The phone becomes 6g of metal you forget you're carrying.
The hinged band opens to wake the device — the joint glows and the projection lens powers on.
The interface is cast into your palm: time, messages and apps, on a temporary screen of light.
Slide either side to scale or change volume; close the ring to sleep, long-press to fly.

05 — Key Features
The combined lens casts the full mobile interface straight into your palm.
The projected display changes size and shape to fit the moment and surface.
The hinge is the power switch — open is on, closed is off, long-press for airplane mode.
Slide both sides of the band to tune screen size, brightness or volume.
The same lens scales up to a shared screen and auto-corrects its angle.
Worn near the ear for calls, voice feedback and hands-free listening.
Captured ambient sound delivered through bone conduction — an inclusive extension of the same hardware.

Through a wearable ring, palm projection and an ear-worn assistive mode, this project imagines technology that gets lighter, more adaptive and more closely tied to the human body — appearing only when needed, and disappearing the rest of the time. Less a device to hold, more a quiet accessory you simply wear.
